My Blogging Journey

I know this one’s long, but I would be happy, if you could give this a read.

I’d like to start with this quote, “Best journeys answer questions that in the beginning you didn’t even think to ask.”

500 followers! I’m so happy to announce that today, Falling Upwards has crossed 500 followers on WordPress. I’d like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for making this great family. Your constant support and amazing comments are what keeps me going and pushes me towards trying new styles!

I started this blog over 4 years ago, (25th August). To be precise, my writing journey (not blogging, I never wrote before this) began on that day, before that I’d never imagined that I would take up writing as my hobby. You can say a sudden turn of events pushed me into writing. I began with writing down my thoughts and few experiences and then one day I felt like writing a poem. Honestly, then I used to feel writing a poem is extremely difficult but something pushed me to give it a try. That push gave raise to my first poem, Welcome to my place, a very simple poem but yes it led to a new beginning, yes I began writing poems. Then, I was not so regular, yes around 2 to 3 posts a month. A slow beginning, but was good enough for a person who was fresh to writing itself.

Then there came a new phase, 2017 and 2018, the 2 most horrible years of my life. The hectic school schedule and coaching classes, puffed me up. Those 2 years, I was so immersed into my routine, that I wasn’t able to give any time to my hobbies and eventually I stopped blogging and even my artwork. I was under immense stress. It was a pain, that I had to stop doing something I loved so much.

Then in 2019, things started looking up, and I decided to take up my blogging journey from where I’d stopped, but I realized having left writing for 2 years my brain was completely rusted. I couldn’t think of ideas and topics to write and I felt I’d never be able to write as I used to before. This is how 2019 got over.

Then with the motivation of my dear parents and friends, I pushed myself and began afresh from Jan 2020. Again it was a slow beginning, but at least I made an attempt. In the month of March, lockdown began, having so much time, yet I was slow. In the month of May, a sudden spark ignited within me, I read many blogs and started following many prompts so that it would help me with writing. And this actually worked, it helped me thinking better and I began posting everyday (Thanks to lockdown). Doing this I started getting various ideas and topics on my own. I started writing three line tales, six word stories and in the month of July, as you all know, I began experimenting different styles of poetry, villanelle, sonnet, haiku, tanka, pleiades, acrostic and it makes me extremely happy, having tried all of these (cause I never knew I would be able to do it!). I wish to come up with more quality content and other styles and I hope there are no more brakes in this beautiful journey.

I’d never imagined, I’d share all of this with you, but something moved me to do so and it makes me feel very light now.

I thank you all, for giving this blog, a new life.

  3. Thank you, Aashi, for sharing your personal journey with us, and congratulations on having 500 followers! When I first started reading your poems, I assumed that you were a professional writer. Your work is of very high quality, and knowing the backstory, I appreciate even more the wonderful poems you write.

I am new to blogging and sometimes find it a little overwhelming and time-consuming. I am working to maintain balance in my life. Thank you again for sharing your story. Stay well and happy! Cheryl

  4. I loved reading about your journey. Juggling book and hectic schedules can be different. I’ve gone off the wagon too. During my final years of college, my blog was mostly inactive. I’m glad that you found a way back to blogging. And I’m glad that I found you. Congratulations on making it to 500. Here’s to thousands more ❀️
