Touching cotton clouds white…

balloon.png

To touch those cotton clouds white,
In colourful balloon, I’ll fly high,
I’ll reach the heights, infinite.

In it’s shelter, the sun smiles bright,
In the sky above my dreams afloat lie,
To touch those cotton clouds white.

Hangs about my heart, a little fright,
It’s outstared, with courage’s eye,
I’ll reach the heights, infinite.

Myriad of hues, have taken their flight,
A strong head, daring! Iffy they defy,
To touch those cotton clouds white.

At times, chances of touching, bright,
Far afar in a jiffy, away cottons fly,
I’ll reach the heights, infinite.

When time’s on my side ,dreams, I’ll unite,
Till then, each part of me will try and try,
To touch those cotton clouds white,
I’ll reach the heights, infinite……

For those who don’t know, this form of poetry is called a villanelle. A villanelle is a fixed-form poem consisting of five tercets and a quatrain and also follows a specific rhyme scheme using only two different sounds. Thus, the villanelle has nineteen total lines. There is also a pattern of two refrains, which are repeated lines in a poem or verse. Therefore, in a villanelle, two different lines repeat throughout the poem. Specifically, the first line recurs as lines 6, 12, and 18, and the third line recurs as lines 9, 15, and 19.In addition, the pattern becomes even more complex with a specific rhyme scheme. In a villanelle, the rhyme scheme is ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA.

This post was written in response to What do you see #45. I thank Sadje for hosting this challenge. The challenge was to write a poem or a prose on the picture provided.

Thank you!
